Accessibility Statement

Effective date: August 2026. Last updated: August 22, 2026.

1. Our Commitment

Van Power Lab is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We strive to comply with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards and the UK Equality Act 2010. We continually work to improve user experience for all visitors, regardless of device or ability.

2. Accessibility Features

Our website includes the following accessibility features:

  1. Semantic HTML structure for better screen reader compatibility
  2. Proper heading hierarchy (H1, H2, H3) for logical document structure
  3. Descriptive alt text for all images and diagrams
  4. High contrast color schemes (WCAG AA compliant, minimum 4.5:1 ratio)
  5. Responsive design that works on mobile, tablet, and desktop devices
  6. Keyboard navigation support for all interactive elements
  7. Focus indicators for keyboard users
  8. Form labels and error messages clearly associated with input fields
  9. Skip navigation link to jump directly to main content
  10. Readable font sizes (minimum 16px for body text)
  11. Sufficient line spacing (1.6 for body text) to improve readability
  12. Avoid relying on color alone to convey information

3. Screen Reader Support

Our website is designed to work with screen readers including NVDA (free), JAWS, and VoiceOver (Mac/iOS). All images have descriptive alt text. SVG diagrams and charts include text descriptions. Interactive components like buttons and links have clear labels. Tables, if used, include proper header markup.

4. Keyboard Navigation

You can navigate our website using keyboard shortcuts:

  1. Tab: Move forward through interactive elements
  2. Shift + Tab: Move backward through interactive elements
  3. Enter: Activate buttons and links
  4. Space: Activate buttons and checkboxes

All functionality is available via keyboard. No mouse is required.

5. Color & Contrast

Our website meets WCAG AA contrast requirements. Text has a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 against its background. We avoid using color as the sole means of conveying information. Charts and diagrams use patterns, labels, or icons in addition to color.

6. Text Sizing & Readability

You can adjust text size in your browser settings. We use relative font sizes (em/rem) so text scales proportionally. Body text is set to a minimum of 16px for readability. Line height is 1.6, providing generous spacing to improve readability for people with dyslexia and other reading difficulties.

7. Known Limitations

While we strive for full accessibility, some third-party content may not be fully accessible:

  1. External affiliate links or embedded third-party widgets may not meet accessibility standards
  2. PDF documents may have accessibility limitations (we provide HTML alternatives when possible)
  3. Some older browser versions may not support all accessibility features

8. Browser & Assistive Technology Compatibility

Our website is tested with the following assistive technologies and browsers:

  1. NVDA with Firefox, Chrome, and Edge
  2. JAWS with Chrome and Edge
  3. VoiceOver with Safari (Mac and iOS)
  4. Modern versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge
